Something About Me

About Me

I started giving private tuition in 1997, and what began as part-time tutoring has grown into a passion for helping students learn and grow. Over the years, I have had the privilege of teaching more than 300 students from different levels, backgrounds and learning abilities.

I graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in 2001 with a Second Class Upper Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering. Before becoming a full-time tutor in 2010, I worked as a contract teacher with the Ministry of Education (MOE) and as a mechanical engineer. These experiences have shaped the way I teach — with an emphasis not only on getting the right answers, but also on helping students understand concepts, develop good learning habits and gain confidence in themselves.

I specialise in Mathematics and Science, and I also work with students from China to develop both their conversational and written English. I provide online lessons for international students preparing for the SAT, IGCSE and IELTS as well.

Every student learns differently. Some may need more time to build their foundation, while others may need encouragement to become more confident and independent. I enjoy understanding what each student needs and finding ways to help them make steady progress.

As a tutor, my goal is not simply to help students improve their grades, but to help them understand what they are learning, believe that they can do better, and develop the confidence to tackle challenges on their own.
