My Beliefs and Experience

During my years of tutoring, I have worked with students of different capabilities and needs. Every student is unique in his/her own way and I believe that there is no single teaching method that will fit all. Some of the past students I have taught also require special focus as they suffer from hyperactivity, attention deficit and even mild dyslexia. Regardless of the way they are geared to learn, I tutor them according to their needs and I firmly believe that they have the potential to excel in their areas of strength.

As Singapore’s education is geared towards academic topics, such students may find it hard to cope with the current syllabus. I believe that school grades do not mean everything but it is the process of learning and having the right attitude that will help a child to succeed. Every improvement the child makes is a form of encouragement to them. My hope is to help them to do their best to achieve the best grades they could attain so that they will have a greater opportunity to choose a course of studies of their choice in the future.

Finally, tuition should not replace the school’s curriculum, nor does it acts as an additional lesson to make students study. Tuition acts to supplement the regular school syllabus and helps students to learn and understand better. It is still the responsibility of every student to pay attention in school and revise regularly in order to improve.
